TROOP 476 WEBSITE!
Woo Hoo! We've finally launched a Troop 476 website! It is a place for scouts and parents to review the troop's calendar, find detailed information on upcoming events, download necessary forms and applications, look at photos and videos from prior events, and find contact information for adult leaders.
We want this site to also be a useful resource to boys who are considering scouting to discover what the Boy Scouts has to offer and what Troop 476 is all about.
We hope you find this site a useful tool and hope it will get better and better. If you have any ideas for the site, contact our adult webmaster. If you are a member of out troop, you can meet one of the requirements of your Computers Merit Badge by creating an additional page for this site. August Backpacking TripWe hiked all the way in to Echo Lake on Thursday and had it all to ourselves. Cooper made a fire with no matches and we enjoyed Chili Mac for dinner.
Friday morning we hiked half way to Lost Lake, spending a wonderful afternoon playing by the river. Now Niko had his hand at building a campfire with no matches! Dinner was Beef Stroganoff with Chocolate Strawberry Crunch for dessert - YUM!
Saturday morning we hiked up to Lost Lake. Again, we had the lake to ourselves and the scouts picked a great campsite. Paul, who served as our virtual patrol leader for this event, finally had a chane at a no match fire. To make it just a little harder, he used only natural tinder! Dinner was Teriyaki Chicken & Rice (another winner!) with Chocolate Mousse as dessert. The nearly full moon came up and really lit up the lake and surrounding area.
On Sunday we enjoyed a more relaxed breakfast and then headed back to the truck. The hamburgers we had for lunch on the way home were well earned!
All told the hike covered approximately 18 miles and 2500 feet in elevation gain. The younger boys pulled their weight and Paul really stepped up to lead them. Great job, everybody! Ross Lake Canoe TripMid August gave us the perfect weather for our canoe trip to Ross Lake. We spent 6 days camping along Diablo and Ross Lake. The camp sites were great. Most nights we had campsites to ourselves. We enjoyed exploring the area and playing around the lake. One day we planned to explore Ross lake, but the winds were blowing. The scouts decided to hike to Ross Lake Resort and then to Ross dam. At Ross Lake Resort, the scouts discovered the snack store and pop machine. The scouts then explored Ross Dam. Being outdoors for a week, the scouts had a precious chance to reflect. This trip was really something special. SUMMER CAMPIn July we had 19 scouts head off to Camp Hahobas for a week of sumer camp. Everyone had a great time and many scouts completed rank or merit badge requirements. |
